Built 1955 as cargo liner Port Melbourne, 1972 converted to cruise ship, Therisos Express, JC Carras Group, named Danae on completion (1974). 1985 sold Costa Cruises; 1993 sold Capricorn Maritime renamed Starlight Express; sold 1994 Flax International, renamed Baltica; 1996 sold and renamed by current owners.

PRINCESS DAPHNE [IMO 5282627]
CLASSIC INTERNATIONAL CRUISES, 15,833gt, Built 1955 as fast cargo liner Port Sydney for Port Lines' UK - Australia service. In 1972, she was sold along with her sister ship, Port Melbourne,to John Karras for conversion to car ferries. Renamed Akrotiri Express but completed as the cruise ship Daphne (1974). Sailed as Switzerland (1996),Ocean Odyssey (2002) then Ocean Monarch. In 2004 she spent time in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, as a hospital ship for tsunami victims as the Hellenic Aid. Reverted back to Ocean Monarch she was sold to Classic International Cruises and named Princess Daphne this year, being reunited with her sister ship after 54 years who sails for Classic International as Princess Danane. 18th August 2009
