Chevalier Paul  (D621)

The Chevalier Paul is a Horizon class frigate of the French Marine Nationale. She will be the third vessel of the French Navy named after the 17th century admiral Chevalier Paul (D621).

The Chevalier Paul was launched by DCN in Lorient on 12 July 2006.  Sister ship Forbin.

Georges Leygues class  [Type  F70ASM] anti-submarine frigate, multi-role, due to their Exocet and Crotale missile complement. Internationally labelled an "anti-submarine destroyer".  Displacement 3,550 tonnes, commissioned 1990.  Seen after BRILLIANT MARINER 2010 exercise which ran from 12 - 22 April 10.                                                                                Arrived Leith 23^rd April 2010

Marne (A630)

Durance class replenishment tanker.  Displacement 7,600 tonnes (empty), 17,800 tonnes (full load).  Three ships of the class (the Marne, the Somme, and the Var) are fitted out as flagships and can embark an admiral and his staff.  five ships built for the French Navy, a sixth was built for the Royal Australian Navy HMAS Success (AOR 304) and the leading ship of the class now serves with the Argentine Navy as ARA Patagonia.  Seen after BRILLIANT MARINER 2010 exercise which ran from 12 - 22 April 10.       Arrived Leith 23^rd April 2010

Dissplacement: 4900 tonnes, Length: 138.9m, Beam: 16.7m, Draft: 6.8m.  Speed29 knots.  Armament: 16 Seasparrow surface-to-air missiles , 2 RAM surface-to-air /CIWS-missiles,  4 Exocet anti-ship missiles 1 OTO-Melara 76 mm/dual-purpose gun,  Rheinmetall Rh202 autocannons, 4 torpedo tubes, Aircraft carried: 2 Sea Lynx Mk.88A helicopters.
